Club & Team Sports Photography in South East Queensland

Club and team sports photography across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Gympie. 15 years, 150+ clubs, and every kid in the team photo.

For 15 years, Digital Barista has photographed sporting clubs and teams right across South East Queensland. More than 150 clubs and 30,000 young athletes later, the idea behind it has not changed: every kid in the team photo, a smooth day for the club, and photos families are proud to keep.

This page is your starting point. It covers what club photography involves, where we work, the sports we shoot, and how to plan a photo day that runs like clockwork, with links to dig deeper on any part.

What is club and team photography?

Club and team photography is volume photography for sporting clubs, where every player and team is photographed in one organised session. Each child is photographed individually, then those images are combined into a team photo carrying the club's colours, logo and a chosen design. Families can order prints and digital files afterward through a private online gallery.

In plain terms, it is one well-run day that gives every team a proper photo and gives families something to keep.

15 years, 150 clubs, one simple idea

We started in 2011, and we have grown every year since by doing the basics properly. Clubs come back season after season because photo day is easy, the photos are good, and no child gets left out. That last part matters to us more than anything. A team photo with half the squad missing is not a team photo, so everything we do is built around getting every player in the picture.

We also turn up self-sufficient. Plenty of clubs have a hall or a shed with no power point in sight, and that is never a problem: our van carries its own power, so we can run a full day off a single extension lead.

If you sit on a club committee and want the full rundown of how we work with clubs, the rebates we offer, and the ways photo day can even pay for itself, head to our For Clubs page.

Where we work

We photograph clubs across four main regions of South East Queensland:

  • Sunshine Coast, from Caloundra up through to Cooroy and Pomona
  • Brisbane, across the northside and down to Carina
  • Gold Coast
  • Gympie region

If your club is in or near any of these areas, we would love to hear from you. We are based on the Sunshine Coast, so local clubs get a photographer who knows the venues, knows the local sporting community, and can be there without a long drive.

Sports we have photographed

Over 15 years we have photographed just about every sport a club has thrown at us, 13 in all:

rugby league, rugby union, AFL, soccer, netball, cheerleading, junior lifesaving, cricket, basketball, martial arts, swimming, dance and equestrian.

That range is more a measure of experience than a menu. Different sports bring different challenges, and we have handled most of them over the years. The best way to know whether we are the right fit for your club is a quick chat, so get in touch and we will give you a straight answer.

How it works, and how to plan it

Once you have decided to go ahead, a few things are worth getting right, and we have a guide for each.

The first big decision is how your club pays for photo day, because it shapes everything else. We break down the three options in Registration, parent-purchase or sponsor-funded. When it comes to running the day itself, our stress-free photo day checklist walks your committee through every step, and the full planning guide covers the detail.

Not sure how to tell a sharp photographer from a disorganised one? Our guide to choosing a club photographer gives you the exact questions to ask. And if a rival has waved a "free" photo day under your nose, it is worth reading the real cost of a free photo day before you sign anything.

The trust side: Blue Cards, insurance, and every kid included

When you are handing a photographer access to a few hundred children, this part is not optional. Every photographer and admin staff member at Digital Barista holds a current Queensland Blue Card, and we carry full public liability insurance. Our online galleries are secure, and where a club can provide the details, we set up per-child access so each family only sees their own child. Images are never sold without permission.

We also track absentees, so the club receives an absent report showing exactly who was away on the day. That means you can line up a make-up, and no child is quietly left out of the team photo. It is the sort of thing worth asking any photographer about before you book, because not all of them do it. Our checklist for choosing a photographer covers what else to look for.
